Great River Road |
Village of Trempealeau |
Wisconsin's Great River Road flanks the majestic Mississippi River as it leisurely winds its way along 250 miles of the Wisconsin west border. Along its way, the road is nestled between the river on one side and towering bluffs on the other, becoming one of the most scenic drives in mid-America. Most of the time the road parallels the river, but when the road does meander a short way from the river, it treats its guests to vistas of rolling farmland and beautiful forested valleys and coulees. |

Rustic Roads River Drive |
Wisconsin Highway 54 |
The Rustic Roads system in Wisconsin was created in 1973 in an effort to preserve what remains of Wisconsin’s scenic lightly traveled country roads. Unique brown and yellow signs mark the routes of all officially designated Rustic Roads, and there is a maximum speed of 45 mph. To avoid confusion the letter “R” prefix is used with the road number. In Trempealeau County our Rustic Road is a River Drive Loop off of WI54, it is 5 miles in length, and it is unpaved. This is a true back country road and may not be passable in the winter of during wet periods. |
